Dade County Police Benevolent Association 2018 Officer of the Year Award

It’s hard to put into words just how special this weekend was. This past Saturday, May 18th, we celebrated our 26th-Annual Dade County Police Benevolent Association Law Enforcement Awards Gala! We’re proud to share that it was our largest one in history, as we filled the Donald J. Trump Ballroom at the Trump National Doral Miami with nearly 1,000 police officers and their families, elected local officials, members of the community and our esteemed keynote speaker, Governor Ron DeSantis. While the night itself broke records for us, more importantly, it celebrated the deserving men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line—many times to protect our own—each and every day.

Our President, Steadman Stahl, said it best in his closing remarks: “That thin blue line we stand on requires a unique and dedicated professional that understands the difference between good and evil; and that same line is all that protects our community from chaos. I am proud to be standing in this room tonight with South Florida’s most valued heroes.”

While we will be rolling out photos and videos from Saturday night’s event over the next week, please take a moment to view this impactful video announcing the winners of our most prestigious award, 2018 Officer of the Year. These five men showed their unending bravery this time last year, in the same hotel where nearly 1,000 of us sat, when a shooter opened fire. They are the epitome of the thin blue line, and they deserve more gratitude than any of us could ever give.

To all of our officers, thank you. Every single one of you is a hero to us all.
